Jeff Wismer, the assistant director at MID-TN VBC joins The Marc Cox Morning Show to discuss the reckless driving incident that resulted in 16-year-old Janae Edmondson losing both of her legs.
The suspect, Daniel Riley, did not have a valid driver's license and was driving 20 mph above the speed limit. KSDK reported that Riley was set to go to trial for armed robbery. That incident took place in 2020, and the case was set to be heard in 2022 but the case was delayed by St. Louis Circuit Attorney Kim Gardner’s Office. Riley violated the terms of his GPS monitoring system more than 40 times.
As national support pours in for Janae and the Edmondson family, many close to the victim are left asking "what if?".
"What if the right thing was done and this person wasn't behind the wheel of the car?" asks Wismer.
"I hope the full extent of the law is thrust upon this individual and a lot of questions are asked of why that could even occur."
