Attorney General Andrew Bailey filed a motion to remove St. Louis Circuit Attorney Kim Gardner from office Thursday at noon. This comes after a reckless driving incident in downtown St. Louis over the weekend.

Janae Edmondson, a teenage athlete, was walking back to her hotel in downtown St. Louis after a volleyball tournament when she was run down by a speeding vehicle and lost both of her legs. The driver facing charges in the accident was out on bond from charges related to an armed robbery.

“This is the latest in a long pattern of brazen neglect. The St. Louis Circuit Attorney has a long history of failure to prosecute violent crime, with a backlog of at least 3,000 cases,” according to Bailey.

Legal Expert Hans Von Spakovsky joins Annie Frey to react to the news: “Ultimately, I think the Attorney General will win and so will the people of the city because…let’s face it, she’s not a very good lawyer. She’s shown her incompetence on numerous occasions.”
