The Lions are underdogs this season in every game. So it sort of makes sense Dan Campbell is the biggest underdog to win Coach of the Year -- tied with the Texans' David Culley at 50-1, according to BetOnline.ag.
Which also makes sense. The only other team that's an underdog in every game is the Texans.
Then again, if the Lions start to surprise some people, Campbell's odds will immediately jump. Anything close to a playoff berth for Detroit, after three straight last-place finishes under Matt Patricia, would warrant Coach of the Year consideration for Campbell.
The three favorites for Coach of the Year are Brandon Staley of the Chargers (10-1), Kevin Stefanski of the Browns (12-1) and Sean McVay of the Rams (14-1). McVay's odds are boosted by the arrival of Matthew Stafford, one of the early frontrunners for MVP.
Of the other new hires in addition to Campbell and Culley, Robert Saleh of the Jets has the best Coach of the Year odds at 22-1. He's followed by Arthur Smith of the Falcons at 25-1 and Urban Meyer of the Jaguars and Nick Sirianni of the Eagles at 33-1.
