UPDATE: SkyStar has announced that they must shut down operations due to San Francisco moving into the state's purple tier. Those with tickets can reschedule for future dates.
Golden Gate Park celebrated its 150th anniversary in 2020 and several attractions were scheduled to show up in the park throughout the year. One of those will be an illuminated 150-foot "observation wheel" in the Music Concourse near the de Young Museum that was originally slated to open on April 4, 2020.
It was originally planned to stay in the park through March 1, 2021 & that date hasn't been updated just yet. It will provide "Bay To breakers" views for riders. It features 36 fully-enclosed, climate-controlled gondolas and will cost $18 for adults & $12 for kids (13 & under) & seniors for 12-minute rides. The wheel had arrived in March and has been sitting, unused for six months up until this point.
