Monday’s NBA slate will feature nine games and injuries will pay a crucial role in the outcomes of quite a few matchups as usual. The Dallas Mavericks are set to play in a third straight contest without Luka Doncic, Kristaps Porzingis will make his 2024-25 debut, and the shorthanded Hornets are down yet another key frontcourt player. Let’s unpack what makes three bets worth considering ahead of tip-off here.

Dallas Mavericks (9-8) ML at Atlanta Hawks (7-10): +120, BetMGM

The Mavericks topped the Denver Nuggets without Doncic before suffering a close loss to the Miami Heat and will now visit a Hawks team that’s finally getting healthy. Dallas won’t have their lead superstar for this contest but have enough to win straight up. The Mavericks boast a top-10 offense and defense so far this season while the Trae Young-led Hawks have the league’s third-worst scoring defense. The Mavericks have strong recent performances against legitimate playoff teams while the middling Hawks are still looking to successfully integrate the newly-healthy Bogdan Bogdanovic and DeAndre Hunter into the rotation.

Los Angeles Clippers (11-7) +10.5 at Boston Celtics (14-3): -110, BetMGM

The Clippers have beaten the Golden State Warriors, Orlando Magic, and Sacramento Kings during their current five-game winning streak and will face a Boston team that’s poised to put Porzingis on the floor for the first time this season. Al Horford has an illness ahead of the Celtics’ second leg of a back-to-back and Luke Kornet is doubtful with a hamstring injury. Ivica Zubac is a force in the paint and bettors shouldn’t expect Porzingis to take on a heavy workload. The Clippers have been elite on defense and have covered in five straight contests. They were road underdogs in three of those outings.

Orlando Magic (11-7) at Charlotte Hornets (6-10) Under 213.5: -115, BetMGM

This pairing totaled 203 points the last time these two teams faced and Charlotte is even worse off on offense now. The Hornets lost Grant Williams to an ACL injury against the Milwaukee Bucks, Tre Mann is out with a back injury, and Miles Bridges is dealing with lingering knee pain. Charlotte can’t defend on much offense from anyone other than LaMelo Ball and that’s not ideal against the league’s best scoring defense.
