It has finally happened, ladies and gentlemen. For the first time since 2022, the Carolina Panthers are favorites in an NFL football game. We all thought that the day would never come again, but it is indeed here as they face the Dallas Cowboys at home. How many of you, after the start that Carolina got out to, would have predicted them to be favorites in any game this season? My guess would be not many of you, if any at all.

The Panthers are a -2 favorite at home against Dallas right now in almost every market, with some places posting -2.5.

So, what circumstances have had to occur for this to happen? I think the first and most important factor is the noticeable improvement from quarterback Bryce Young. The former No. 1 overall pick out of Alabama had been labeled as a bust by many after his rookie season starting for the Panthers, which admittedly, was quite terrible. He started this season as well, but was benched just a few games in for veteran Andy Dalton, who took over the job for about a month before getting injured.

That forced Young back into action, and it seems as though the benching was a wake up call for the talented signal-caller. I don’t know exactly what he did during his time riding the pine, but whatever he learned or figured out in that span, it certainly seems to have helped him become a far better player than what he was.

Over his first two games of the season as a starter, he threw for a grand total of 245 yards and three interceptions, with no touchdowns. He was benched after those games, and didn’t start again until Week 8. Since taking back his job as the starter, Young has thrown for 1,273 yards and seven touchdowns, to just four interceptions. While his overall stats wouldn’t make your eyes pop, those numbers are a massive improvement from what we had seen from him.

In addition to that, the Cowboys are a disaster. They have injuries all over the roster and will be starting QB Cooper Rush on the road, which is never a good formula. They are 5-8 on the season and have been all but eliminated from playoff contention. It makes sense that they are underdogs here to a Panthers team that probably should have just beaten the Philadelphia Eagles last week on the road.

Now, the real question is if this is actually worth a wager or not. After all, that is why you are here and reading our articles, you want to win some cash. Personally, I have already wagered on the Panthers at -1, and they have been pushed out to -2.5 in some places now. Carolina, despite the new form that Young has been showing, has still lost three straight games and is 3-10 on the season. There are going to be many people betting on Dallas because they are 5-8 and getting points against a 3-10 team.

Take the Panthers at -2 or the moneyline here, as I think they will finally win a football game as a favorite this weekend. Perhaps Bryce Young goes off for multiple touchdowns, and silences his haters.
