2025 Wooden Award Odds: Cooper Flagg Still Leads, but Johni Broome Is Gaining Ground

Breaking Down the Latest Wooden Award Race & Betting Value as the Season Winds Down

There are still only two horses in the 2025 Wooden Award race. Duke freshman Cooper Flagg has been the odds-on favorite since he first became eligible, but Auburn’s upperclassman forward Johni Broome is closing the gap rapidly. It’s unclear who will come out on top, but it seems like the difference between the two players will continue to narrow with each passing week.

Flagg, who peaked at -800 at BetMGM in January, improved to -550 before his odds hit -160 in the middle of January. The Blue Devils star became the first ACC player with at least 500 points, 100 assists, and 30 blocks in the last 25 years after his team’s latest win over Virginia. However, Duke (23-2) might have to win out for him to stay ahead of his top competition, especially when Broome is capable of matching Flagg’s counting stats across the board.

Broome (+100) opened the year at +3500 at BetMGM. His 19-point double-double in a win over Alabama last week only helped his case. Auburn is 23-2 on the year and Broome has driven the team’s success with his scoring, rebounding, passing, and prolific shot blocking. He has a clear path to the Wooden Award if the Tigers finish the regular season ranked No. 1 and he has an edge over Flagg in several statistical categories.

Purdue’s Braden Smith has dropped from +5000 to +10000 and it appears like there’s no way for him to make things competitive. Flagg and Broome are in control of their own futures at this point. Bettors who think Auburn will win out should consider pouncing on Broome to double their money.
