Wednesday's college basketball slate features some intriguing matchups, with sharp bettors eyeing a couple of key spots. No. 15 Missouri looks to defend its home court against No. 4 Alabama, while Saint Joseph’s heads to George Washington in a game that may catch many by surprise. These games offer excellent betting value, with oddsmakers signaling some interesting angles. Let’s dive into the best bets for tonight’s action.
No. 15 Missouri ML vs. No. 4 Alabama (-110)
The Alabama Crimson Tide will hit the road to take on the Missouri Tigers in what should be a fantastic matchup tonight in college basketball. The Tide are coming off a loss to No. 1 Auburn, and plenty of people figure this to be a sure fire bounce back spot for them against the Tigers. I am not so sure that is going to be the case, and all I really had to do was look at the current line at BetMGM to figure out quickly what I wanted to bet in this game.
Alabama is 21-4 and ranked No. 4 in the nation, and they are an underdog tonight getting plus money to win the game against an opponent that is ranked lower than they are with a 19-6 record. Every square on planet Earth will be taking the Tide to bounce back with a win here, and would hammer them getting this kind of price against an “inferior” opponent. The problem is that I would argue that the Tigers have been even better.
Missouri is 8-2 ATS over their last 10 games, and 15-10 ATS overall on the season. They have been nearly unbeatable at home, going 16-1 SU to this point. People are going to see the No. 4 team as an underdog and bet them immediately, but there is a reason that Missouri is favored. Take the Tigers to get a big win tonight over the Tide.
Saint Joseph’s ML at George Washington (-114)
This game might not be on the radar for a lot of people, but it is one that I am going to be interested in a lot tonight. Saint Joseph’s comes into this game off a heart-breaking loss to George Mason by a single point, but they did manage to cover the +4.5 spread. The Hawks haven’t been great at covering this year, with just an 11-13-1 ATS record, but they have been 5-5 over their last 10 ATS. However, like most of my wagers, sometimes the line is all I need to see to find a winner.
George Washington is coming off a fantastic upset win on the road over Davidson as +3.5 dogs, and are a robust 17-9 on the season so far. The Colonials are also 13-11 ATS this season, so overall, they have been the better team. So, why are the Hawks a favorite on the road against them? Likely because they are going to win the game.
As usual, the public is going to see a 17-9 team at home as an underdog to a 15-10 team, and they are going to bet on the home team getting plus money. That is very often a mistake, and one of many reasons new hotels and casinos continue to open up in Las Vegas. They need their money back from how successful the public was during the NFL season, losing 10s of millions of dollars, so I expect a lot of sharp wins this college basketball season.
Take the JOES to come away with a road win here against the Colonials at a very good price of just -114 at BetMGM.
