The Philadelphia Eagles and Kansas City Chiefs will do battle in Super Bowl LIX on February 9, and the game is going to attract millions of dollars in wagers. Everyone is researching and handicapping every possible angle of the game, including us here on the BetMGM Network, where we hope to make you the most informed bettor possible before you wager your hard earned money.
As I have continued to dive into player props and individual history for guys in this game, there have been a few guys that I have already pointed out here on site, like Dallas Goedert. He’s not the only Eagle that has some very good history with his matchup for this game. WR DeVonta Smith also stands out as someone that might be worth investing in for the Super Bowl to have a big performance.
According to Dov Kleiman on X, his domination over Kansas City has been something else in his career.
In just three games against the Chiefs defense, which has been under the leadership of Steve Spagnuolo in each game, Smith has lit them up for 321 yards on 20 catches. That was when the Eagles didn’t have RB Saquon Barkley, who will demand a ton of attention from the Kansas City defense, which could allow a big day for QB Jalen Hurts and the passing attack. Fellow WR A.J. Brown also will be guarded by No. 1 corner Trent McDuffie, and with the Chiefs ranking just 18th against the pass this season, Smith could have another explosive game.
Over at BetMGM, Smith’s props are pretty interesting in the market. His receiving yards prop is set at just 50.5, despite all of his past success against this defense. He has a receptions prop of 4.5, with the under juiced a bit to -118. He’s +250 to score a touchdown right now, so really, the book seems to think he is going to have a rather average performance here.
Smith hasn’t been spectacular recently, and had just four catches for 45 yards in their last game against the Washington Commanders. Smith last cracked 100 yards in their last game of the regular season against the Dallas Cowboys. He has had exactly four catches now in all three of the Eagles playoff games to this point, and also has not caught a single touchdown in any of those games.
This could be the game where he shows up in a big way, as he has in the past, so it could be worth investing some baby peanuts in him for some alt markets like 100+ receiving yards at +550 odds. I think that offers a lot of value actually, and I threw some change there at BetMGM myself.
