It’ll be less than a week until we see the opening kickoff of Super Bowl LIX down in New Orleans between the Philadelphia Eagles and Kansas City Chiefs, and everyone is scrambling to do their research and analysis to find the winning wagers in the game. With hundreds of markets available for you to bet on, it can be overwhelming to go through and handicap so much. That is why you have us here at the BetMGM Network to help steer you in the right direction, by making sure you are as informed as possible before you throw down your hard earned money.
One market to think about is Super Bowl MVP, and while many will be picking a certain player to win that award, you can also pick it position by position. Personally, I think this could be even more valuable because you get several players on both teams all grouped up by a position, so your chances are higher to cash in. I have a few that I sprinkled some small money on, which I will explain below.
Wide Receiver (+875)
It goes without saying that quarterback is the most likely position to win Super Bowl MVP by a pretty large margin, and that is why it is juiced to -250 for either Patrick Mahomes or Jalen Hurts to win it. Running back also offers little value at +200 in my opinion, as you might as well just back Saquon Barkley at that number, as I don’t see a Chiefs running back winning it. Instead, I’ll take a wide receiver at +875 odds for some baby peanuts.
I think the Chiefs defense is going to be laser focused on stopping Barkley in that rushing attack, and force Hurts to beat them with his arm. He is more than capable of doing that against a Kansas City defense that ranked 18th against the pass, and he has plenty of weapons at his disposal to torch them through the air. A.J. Brown could have a monster game here, as he racked up 96 yards in Super Bowl LVII and is nearly unstoppable at times. WR Devonta Smith could be a sneaky play here as well, and we all know that Patrick Mahomes will be slinging it to Xavier Worthy and Hollywood Brown.
We get every wide receiver in the game for this bet, and I think it is worth a small wager at the current price.
Defensive Lineman (+1500)
If there is going to be a defensive player to win the award, I think it will likely come from the defensive line here. The Eagles are loaded up front, with Jalen Carter leading the way against a questionable at best Chiefs offensive line, and he can wreck a game by himself. Honestly, however, I really like Kansas City defensive lineman George Karlaftis in this game. He’s unreal and one of the best up and coming pass rushers in the game at just 23 years of age. I could see him getting multiple sacks in this game, especially if the Chiefs get a lead and it forces Philadelphia to throw the ball. He had three sacks against the Texans in the divisional game, and had his presence felt big time in the AFC Championship as well. We also get Chris Jones grouped in with this bet, who we know is one of the best in football.
15/1 is enough for me to sprinkle this one.
