Travis Kelce Shuts Down Retirement Talk: “I Still Have a Lot of Good Football Left”

Amid growing speculation, the Chiefs tight end makes it clear he’s not planning to walk away from the game just yet.

Speculation about players' futures always ramps up leading up to the Super Bowl. How many seasons do they have left? Will they walk away from the game if they win it all? This year, those questions are swirling around Chiefs superstar tight end Travis Kelce.

At 35 years old, Kelce remains one of the NFL's elite, but his life off the field has become just as high-profile. I mean, have you heard? He’s dating Taylor Swift—arguably the most famous person on the planet right now. That spotlight boost has made his already successful podcast New Heights, co-hosted with his brother Jason, even bigger. Add in endorsement deals and other ventures, and it’s no wonder people are wondering if he's setting himself up for life after football.

When Super Bowl LIX media festivities kicked off Monday night, Kelce addressed the retirement buzz—or rather dismissed it. When asked where he sees himself in three years, Kelce confidently told ESPN, "Hopefully still playing football. I love doing this. I love coming into work every day. I feel like I still have a lot of good football left in me.”

Still, Kelce acknowledged he’s preparing for what comes next. "We'll see what happens. I've been setting myself up for other opportunities in my life. That’s always been the goal, knowing football only lasts so long. You have to find a way to get into another career and another profession.”

Fueling some of this conversation is the fact that Kelce has gotten off to slow starts in each of the past two seasons. Yet, in typical Kelce fashion, he’s ramped things up when it matters most—down the stretch and into the playoffs. He proved he still has plenty left in the tank with a dominant seven-catch, 117-yard performance against the Texans in the divisional round. However, he was quieter in the AFC Championship against the Bills.

Looking ahead to Sunday’s showdown with the Eagles, Kelce’s receiving prop at BetMGM is set at 62.5 yards, with his receptions line at 6.5 and an anytime touchdown priced at +125. Whether he meets or exceeds those marks, one thing’s clear—Kelce isn’t ready to hang it up anytime soon.
