Philip Rivers is ready for the AFC divisional round.
By way of the Chargers' 23-17 win over the Ravens in Baltimore on Sunday afternoon, Rivers and the rest of his team will travel to Gillette Stadium next Sunday to take on the Patriots.
Speaking to NBC on the field immediately following the win, Rivers was asked what going to Foxboro next week makes him think?
“Makes me think think about 2007," he said. "It's been a long time. I can’t wait to get there.”
The Chargers lost to the Patriots in the postseason in back-to-back years. In the 2007 playoffs, the Patriots beat them, 21-12, in the AFC championship at Gillette Stadium. This came following the 2006 playoffs when the Patriots also beat them, 24-21, in the divisional round, but in San Diego.
Rivers is 0-7 all-time against Tom Brady, including the playoffs. His lone win against the Patriots came in 2008 when Brady missed the entire season with a torn ACL.
