Saria Hildabrand went missing after a night of partying on her husband's 21st birthday. She was a member of the Alaska National Guard while her husband, Zarrius Ray Hildabrand, served in the 2nd Infantry Brigade Combat Team (Airborne), 11th Airborne Division.

Her husband reported her missing on August 7, and after several days of searching, her remains were found in a storm drain near Alpenhorn Avenue in Anchorage. According to the criminal complaint filed, she had a single gunshot wound to the head.

Between August 7 when she went missing, and the discovery of her remains on the 10, Zarrius allegedly kept up a false facade of his wife's activities by sending misleading text messages to her friends and co-workers, the criminal complaint states.

Also, when police searched his premises he would not let them search beneath the bed. It turned out later that the mattress was saturated with blood. Zarrius was then charged with murder and tampering with evidence.

"We appreciate the diligent effort put forth by local law enforcement and CSI in bringing this search to a close," her family wrote on a GoFundMe page set up to support the search for Saria. "We are grateful for their subsequent work in solving this case in order to discover what happened. We would also like to thank the Army CID for their support of our family during these trying times."

Zarrius is behind held on $500,000 bail while he awaits an indictment hearing.
