Three 1st Special Forces Command soldiers facing a litany of charges

Three soldiers currently assigned to 1st Special Forces Command are facing numerous charges and are in various states of prosecution. When contacted, the command provided background information, as well as pointed out that all parties are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

SFC Justin Murphy assigned to 7th Special Forces Group is a Special Forces engineer (18C) and has been referred to a General Court-Martial docketed for trial 1, Sept. 5-8, 2023.

He is alleged to have committed the following offenses according to Special Forces Command:

One charge of attempted murder. Thirteen charges of assaulting an intimate partner. One charge of assaulting a child under the age of 16. One charge of rape by force, one charge of sexual assault. Two charges of communicating a threat, two charges of child endangerment, one charge of wrongfully influencing administration of criminal proceedings, two charges of animal abuse, and one charge of communicating indecent language.

SGT Christopher Lopez with 528th Sustainment Brigade, Special Operations is a parachute rigger (92R) and is referred to a Special Court-Martial and is pending a trial date. He has been alleged to have committed the following offenses according to Special Forces Command:

Three charges of assaulting an intimate partner, one specification of communicating a threat, one charge of assaulting his wife while she held his son, constituting endangerment of a child. One count of disrespect to a superior commissioned officer. Three counts of disrespect to a noncommissioned officer.

SPC Alecia Fleming assigned to 3rd Special Forces Group is a Human Resources Specialist (42A) who went to a General Court-Martial on June 6. She pled guilty to assaulting five individuals, disrespecting a superior officer, and disrespecting a superior noncommissioned officer. She will be discharged from the Army, according to Special Forces Command.

These court martials follow up on a number of highly public events alleging various levels of criminality in Special Forces command in recent years ranging from drug abuse to murder, and even an allegation of human trafficking.
