For the first time, Uncle Sam is dipping to the Army Prepositioned Stocks-2 (APS-2) reserves in Europe, mobilizing several armor brigades.
Located at the Coleman work site in Mannheim, Germany, APS-2 was created in the 1990s to hold and maintain war material in Europe as the U.S. military was downsizing. Those reserves could be activated during war or times of heightened tensions.

Currently, the 405th Army Field Support Brigade is loading and shipping armored vehicles and equipment via rail and truck to the Grafenwoehr Training Area.
Some of the vehicles and equipment being shipped include the M1 Abrams main battle tank, M2 Bradley fighting vehicle, Joint Light Tactical Vehicles, Paladins, generators, Palletized Load Systems, and Load Handling Systems, Heavy Expanded Mobility Tactical Trucks, according to an Army press release.
At the Grafenwoehr Training Area the equipment will be issued to the 1st Armored Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division which has been deployed to Germany from the United States.
