PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - The Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium says they are “roaring with excitement” after welcoming three new African Lions.
The new pride is made up of a two-year-old male and a pair of two-year-old females.
The zoo says in a social media post that the lions are currently not available to be seen by the public and are in the Animal Care Center, adjusting to their new environment and getting comfortable with the animal care specialists on site.
The zoo will make an announcement in the future one when you can see these lions in person!
The zoo reopened on Friday and have started a new timed ticket system to keep the number of people inside the zoo regulated.
Zoo officials say there is an overwhelming number of people getting tickets and ask that you remain paitent if you run into issues.

During the coronavirus pandemic the zoo has made adjustments to ensure the public’s safety:
• Closure of playground areas
• No tram service
• Limited capacity within the park
• Social distancing markers throughout the park
• Installed plexiglass barriers throughout the park
• Closure of log ride
• Closure of zip line
• Single queuing lines
