Robert Schnetz and Sarah Doss first met in 2023 by chance.
Both from Austin, they were at Chicago’s O’Hare airport on layover when they sat next to each other at the Chili’s bar. Doss struck up a quick conversation, and they exchanged information before heading to their separate flights.
Doss left Schnetz a message, and he quickly returned the call upon landing.
That chance meeting sparked a relationship and three years later, when it was time to propose, Schnetz knew exactly where he wanted to pop the question.
Schnetz liked about a work trip to Chicago and asked Doss if she would like to tag along.
Schnetz told NBC Chicago his friends had flown in from Los Angeles that morning and set everything up, including a slideshow on the screens.
Doss said, “It wasn’t until he started speaking really sincerely… then I realized everyone is looking at us. I knew in that moment he is proposing. This is where we met. It couldn’t be more special. I was so surprised."
The proposal has racked up millions of views on TikTok, and Doss says the moment couldn’t have been more perfect.
"We laugh all the time," she said. "We enjoy our life together. So to be able to share that joy with other people is a really special thing."
