A San Jose teenager was sucker punched during a basketball tournament in Oakland over the weekend after he was allegedly called an ethnic slur.
The incident was captured on video obtained by KPIX-5.
It happened Saturday in Oakland during a game between the South Bay Snipers and San Francisco Generals. The Snipers’ roster is made up of mostly Asian players, one of which was apparently called a "c---k" before he was pushed over and punched, according to his mother.
They say he suffered a concussion from the punch.
The Generals’ offending player was banned from their game the following day.
"The worst part is no one apologized," the player’s dad told the station.
His parents intend to file a report with Oakland Police.
The "Battle of the Bay Tournament" was organized by Grassroots 365. The organization posted a statement about the incident to Instagram on Monday.
