Contra Costa, Napa and Sonoma counties are now joining the orange tier of California's color-coded reopening system.

Among other things, the orange tier allows for higher capacity at restaurants, bars can open for outdoor service without the need to offer food and indoor pools can open.

Wineries will also be able to reopen their indoor tasting rooms, a welcome change for winemakers who say they have been crushed by the pandemic.

Movie theaters, museums, gyms and places of worship can also expand their indoor capacity and bowling alleys and offices can reopen with limits. Retailers and shopping malls can open to full capacity.

The change means that Solano County is now the only county in the Bay Area not in the orange tier for reopening.

The state hit another target in its vaccine equity metric Tuesday which triggered more relaxed tier requirements, allowing many counties to join a less restrictive tier.

A whopping 15 counties went from red to orange statewide on Tuesday because of the change.
