Napa and Alameda Counties are expected to enter California’s orange reopening tier on Tuesday, which would allow wineries to resume indoor tastings.
It has been a sour year for wineries in the Napa Valley.
Jim Morris is vice president of guest relations at Charles Krug winery in St. Helena. He said for many, it’s been crushing, but moving to the orange tier will make a big difference.
"We’ve been looking forward to it since last March," Morris told KCBS Radio. "It has been a rough period. We’ve done all of our tastings outdoors, and we’re anticipating to be able to go back indoors at about 20% capacity, which in our case in our main tasting room is about 50 people inside."
Still, he said wineries are unable to hold large weddings, which is a big part of their business, and plans are hanging in limbo for couples.
In the Bay Area, San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Clara and Marin Counties are already in the state's orange tier.
