A coyote that attacked and bit a three-year-old child in a Moraga neighborhood early Tuesday is thought to be the same animal responsible for a series of unprovoked attacks on humans in the East Bay.
Forensic analysis of evidence from Tuesday’s attack matched DNA to the same coyote responsible for three previous attacks reported in the Lamorinda area last year, the California Department of Fish and Wildlife confirmed Wednesday.
The CDFW and other agencies have reportedly started operational planning to located the coyote.
Moraga Police said Tuesday's attack happened at about 8:30 a.m. near Calle la Montana and Campolindo Dr. A woman told officers she was walking with her young daughter when a coyote bit the child without warning.
The mother was able to fend off the coyote and it ran away.
The girl sustained three bite wounds in the attack, the station reported.
