The teen went missing from a party with hundreds of other attendees on Aug. 5 at the Prosser Family Campground in Truckee.
Her last contact was a message she sent her mom in the early hours of Aug. 6, telling her she was on her way home.
A widespread search initially turned up few leads, including one incident where searchers dug up a dog grave.
A couple of weeks after she went missing a volunteer diving team, Adventures With Purpose, found her body and her car, a silver 2013 Honda CRV, submerged under 14 feet of water in Prosser Lake.
The Nevada County Coroner's Office did not respond to KCBS Radio's request for comment at the time of publication.
