A woman and child have died in Contra Costa County after taking a fateful swim in a pool.
At around 2:56 p.m. Saturday, Blackhawk deputy sheriffs responded to a report of an unresponsive woman in a swimming pool at East Ridge Court, the Contra Costa County Sheriff's Office reported.
When police arrived at the home, they were told a child — who had also been swimming — was already being rushed to San Ramon Regional Medical Center.
Fire personnel administered first aid to the woman in the backyard before she was taken to the hospital. Despite life-saving efforts, both the woman and child were later pronounced dead.
Contra Costa County police are conducting an investigation into the deaths, but stated that, "At this point, it does not appear suspicious and there are no signs of foul play."
Authorities have not yet released the names of the victims.
