Joel Bartlett, longtime Bay Area meteorologist for KPIX, KGO, dies at 81

Joel Bartlett, a meteorologist who reported for Bay Area television stations KPIX and KGO-TV for more than three decades has died. He was 81.

Bartlett passed away Thursday evening at his ranch in Sonoma County surrounded by family, friends and his beloved pets.

The dedicated meteorologist provided important weather updates to Bay Area residents at KPIX from 1974 to 1989. He then left to join KGO-TV where he worked until his retirement in 2006 at 65-years-old.

On March 30, the day before Bartlett died, San Francisco Mayor London Breed proclaimed the day "Joel Bartlett Day," honoring him with an official city proclamation to recognize the work he had done for the Bay Area, highlighting his career and achievements.
