The 16,000 square foot mansion in Hillsborough, an affluent neighborhood in Silicon Valley, was originally listed at $37.5 million when it was first made available in May, 2020. Musk sliced $5.5 million off the original price in October and sold it almost exactly one month later on November 13. The sale has yet to close, and the exact price is unclear as well as the identity of the buyer.

The tech tycoon announced he was selling his massive property last year when he claimed he intended to get rid of "almost all physical possessions" and "own no house."

The house, located at 891 Cystal Spring Rd., sits on 47 acres, which Barron’s reported is the one of the largest parcels in the area.

According to the listing on Zillow, the structure features seven bedrooms, nine and a half bedrooms, a library with leather walls, a grand living area, a five-star kitchen with space for a personal chef pool, a fireplace, an eight-car carport and, of course, an electric vehicle hookup.

The estate was originally built in 1912 and owned by the Count Christian de Guigné, who, according to SFGate, was a well known capitalist. It was passed down in the de Guigné family until 2017, when Musk bought it for $23.4

The sale has fueled more speculation that Musk will leave California for good after he announced he’s moving Tesla’s headquarters to Austin, Texas.
