Governor Gavin Newsom toured San Francisco’s mass COVID-19 vaccination site at Moscone Center on Friday, and said California still isn’t receiving enough doses.
Flanked by San Francisco Mayor London Breed and Supervisor Matt Haney, Newsom said he’s encouraged by the state’s ability to administer the vaccine.

The problem, he noted, is that there simply isn’t enough to go around yet.
“What this site proves is that the only limitation in our capacity to do more is supply,” the governor said. “Supply is the constraint. Supply is the issue here in the state of California and all across the country.”
He praised the work of the Biden Administration so far, but added that it hasn’t led to much of an increase in California’s weekly deliveries.
Newsom said the state will also be focusing on equity when it comes to distributing the vaccine, especially when it comes to vaccinating essential workers.
“With the first allocation of vaccines predominantly going to healthcare workers, that is not truly representative of the demographics in the state,” he said. “We have work to do as a state to do more and do better to reach out to our diverse communities.”
The governor also pushed for the reopening of schools, but said he’s willing to let the collective bargaining process play out.
Newsom added that he was encourage by the new CDC guidance on reopening schools.
