"We are sad to announce that the rising costs of doing business in the Bay Area compounded by facilities issues and the lasting financial implications of COVID closures have created an untenable situation for us to continue to operate," Shauna Rosenblum, Rock Wall Wine Co. president and winemaker, wrote in a statement.

Rock Wall Wine Co. made history when it opened in 2008 as the first women-led winery in the Bay Area.

The wine bar, located at 2301 Monarch St. in Alameda, will hold its final tasting on Feb. 27 and all are welcome to join. "You have three more weekends to visit us for on-site consumption and enjoy our beautiful space," she said.

Even though loyal patrons may no longer be able to sit down and enjoy a glass of wine, the modern Drive Thru will remain open for pick-ups until June 5.

As a token of love and appreciation, a 20% discount has been applied to the entire portfolio. "Change is always hard, and this is the end of an era," Rosenblum wrote. "My heart is so full of gratitude for the incredible time we have spent together at the winery."
