A hiker was airlifted out of Alum Rock Park in San Jose on Wednesday.
At roughly 6:30 p.m., emergency crews were notified of a person trapped in the North Falls area of the park.
The man had strayed into a closed off area that was previously deemed hazardous to hikers.
San Jose Park Rangers, the San Jose Fire Department and CAL FIRE all participated in the rescue.
Rangers found the hiker suffering from serious injuries at 7 p.m. Because of his injuries and the dangerous terrain, a CAL FIRE helicopter was called to the scene to airlift the man out of Alum Rock Park.
The hiker was taken to a trauma center.
In a statement, San Jose Park Rangers reminded the public that "park visitors, including hikers, are to stay on marked trails, observe all trail usage signs and avoid closed areas for their safety."
