San Jose police say the death of a man found alone in his apartment Monday morning is the city's 25th homicide this year.

According to the police report, officers arrived at the 200 block of East Santa Clara St. at about 10:43 a.m. to conduct a welfare check on a man.

When officers entered the apartment, they found a man "suffering from a traumatic injury." He was pronounced dead on the scene.

Officers are investigating the death to determine a motive and the circumstances around his death.

The Santa Clara County Coroner's Office has not yet identified the man.

Police said anyone with information regarding the man's death can call the department's homicide unit at 408-277-5283.
