Serial biter coyote attacks fifth person in East Bay

Officials believe the coyote responsible for four previous unprovoked attacks in the East Bay has attacked yet another person.

Lafayette Police said the incident happened last Friday across from the Quik Stop at 3458 Golden Gate Way in Lafayette. KCBS Radio has confirmed the victim was an adult man and DNA recovered matched that found in previous cases.

The first known attack involving this same coyote happened back in July.

Two more attacks occurred in December. The fourth attack happened last week, when the animal bit a three-year-old girl walking with her mother in a Moraga neighborhood. The mom was able to fend off the coyote and it ran away.

Several agencies, including the California Department of Fish and Wildlife, continue to try to track and catch the coyote.
