The San Francisco Police Department told KCBS Radio in an emailed statement that officers arrested 53-year-old Terry Addison, who was initially detained on Friday night in connection to a "suspicious package" in the international terminal that officers determined was "possibly incendiary."
Addison was booked into the San Mateo County Jail on two counts of reporting a false bomb threat and malicious report of a false bomb threat. The San Mateo County Sheriff's Office released Addison "several hours" after his arrest when he posted $20,000 bail, San Mateo County District Attorney Steven Wagstaffe told KCBS Radio in an email on Monday afternoon.
Officers responded to a reported bomb threat at 8:15 p.m. on Friday, finishing up a search of the international terminal at around 11:50 p.m. Police said the department’s bomb squad "safely removed several suspicious packages," clearing the way for employees and passengers to return to the terminal.
AirTran service resumed just after midnight on Saturday, while BART service returned at 6:25 a.m. that same day.
Wagstaffe told KCBS Radio that Addison will be arraigned in South San Francisco at 8:30 a.m. on Aug. 1. He said he "really cannot comment on what charges will be considered" as police haven't completed their reports, but the case could be filed as soon as July 30.
