SFO international terminal evacuated due to 'suspicious device'

SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS RADIO) – A suspect is in custody after the international terminal at San Francisco International Airport was evacuated late Friday due to a "suspicious device" labeled as "possibly incendiary."

The bomb threat was first reported at 8:15 p.m., authorities said.

Passengers have been advised to avoid the terminal until further notice, airport officials tweeted just before 9:30 p.m. "Officers do have an adult male detained for this incident," San Francisco police told KCBS Radio.

No further details about the arrest were provided.

At approximately 12:13 a.m., police had cleared the international terminal and SFO resumed normal operations, airport officials said. They asked travelers to be patient and allocate extra time.

AirTrain and BART resumed at 6:25 a.m.

Passenger drop-off and pick-up is currently only being allowed at the domestic terminals. KCBS Radio has reached out to airport officials for more information but has not yet heard back.
