Hundreds of people gathered in the parking lot of Saratoga’s City Hall on Saturday, standing united against violence towards Asian Americans.
The South Bay protesters held signs that read “stop Asian hate” and "silence breeds violence."

Several political leaders attended, including U.S. Representative Anna Eshoo.
“The voices and the words from this gathering will continue and echo across our country,” she said. “We have to stand up to bigotry, to racism and violence now directed at this community.”

The mayor of the town of Los Gatos, Marico Sayoc, also spoke at the rally.
“I want to show that I am here not only as a mayor, but I am here as a proud, second-generation Filipino American that was told consistently to go home,” she said, drawing cheers from the crowd. “Guess what, this is my home!”
Asian Americans in the Bay Area have been the victims of many violent attacks over the past several months, some fatal.
