Police on Wednesday arrested two suspects in connection to the killing of 16-year-old Aaron Pryor, a star football player at Skyline High School who was gunned down last year, officers told the San Francisco Chronicle.
Pryor was shot and killed on September 27, 2020, at a liquor store driveway on the 5800 block of Elizabeth St in East Oakland, just three weeks after his 16th birthday.
Lt. Frederick Shavies and Officer Jason Turner told the paper they booked a male juvenile and female suspect, with the boy suspected to be the shooter. It was not clear if the female suspect was a juvenile.
They are currently in jail and Alameda County District Attorney Nancy O’Malley has announced whether she will file charges.
Turner called the case “complex” after following multiple leads, social media communications and conducting interviews, the paper reported. Home security footage also showed some, not all, of the shooting.
Pryor was a terrific running back at Skyline High School. His mother told the paper last year that she was worried her son was getting bored during the pandemic since practices were disrupted.
The case is yet another grim indicator of the steep rise in crime throughout the city.
