Pittsburg police made an arrest Thursday in connection with a shooting death Wednesday morning in Antioch.
According to a report by the San Francisco Chronicle, Charles Daniels, 33, and Alberta Stewart, 23, were arrested on suspicion of homicide in the shooting death in Pittsburg of 19-year-old Jabbar Mahmood.
At 3:15 a.m. Wednesday officers responded to a call about a vehicle collision in the area of El Dorado Drive and Shasta Circle in Pittsburg. The vehicle had crashed into several parked cars and a telephone pole.
Mahmood, the driver, had suffered from a single gunshot wound to his torso, police found. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators learned that Mahmood had driven to a house nearby to enlist the services of Stewart as a sex worker. Police said upon arrival Mahmood and Stewart argued over the transaction.
Stewart met with Daniels, who worked as protection for her, in a car outside the house. Soon after, Mahmood left and got into his car, police said, when Daniels walked over and shot him. Mahmood tried to drive off but soon crashed.
Police arrested Daniels and Stewart at his home near Lake Alhambra in Antioch on Thursday morning. The two are being held at the Martinez Detention Facility in lieu of $1 million bail.
