Two people died and four were injured in a San Rafael shooting Friday night.
At roughly 10:42 p.m., the San Rafael Police Department received multiple 911 calls reporting gunfire near the intersection of Third St. and Lootens Place, downtown San Rafael.
Witnesses told police that multiple cars sped away from the location after a burst of gunshots were exchanged.
Officers intercepted a black Dodge Charger that had fled the scene where they discovered two victims suffering from gunshot wounds - a 25-year-old Fairfield resident with life-threatening injuries and a 25-year-old Pittsburg resident with non-life-threatening injuries.
A third victim, a 62-year-old San Rafael man, was found by police at a parking structure on Lootens Place with non-fatal gunshot wounds.
Officers then responded to a vehicle collision in central Marin where they discovered two more victims of the shooting, a 24-year-old Stockton man who was pronounced dead at the scene and a 29-year-old Stockton man who was transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
San Rafael dispatch was also notified of a 27-year-old Fairfield man who was dropped in front of a local hospital suffering from fatal gunshot wounds. The man, who later succumbed to his injuries, was deemed the sixth victim of the Lootens Place shooting.
Police believe many of the victims had come to San Rafael to attend a rap concert at a nearby bar.
