Two small earthquakes shake eastern Alameda County

A second minor earthquake in the last 16 hours struck same spot along the eastern border of Alameda County. This one – measured at magnitude 2.5 – came at 5:31 a.m. on Wednesday.

According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the second earthquake was centered in the same location as one at 1:47 p.m. Tuesday: 12.5 miles, southwest of Livermore. The location is near Cedar Mountain in the Cedar Range, just west of the border with San Joaquin County.

The second quake was estimated at a magnitude of 2.8 by the USGS.

Residents near Truckee also felt shaking early Wednesday. A magnitude 3.6 earthquake struck at 1:25 a.m. 14 miles northwest of the city.

There are no reports of any problems related to any of the earthquakes.
