Whether or not Donald Trump will decide to run for president again in the 2024 election is still up in the air, as a number of political correspondents and TV anchors have chimed in with their expectations of the former president.

Most recently, NBC anchor Chuck Todd discussed Trump's potential run for the 2024 election with Cornell Belcher, a Democratic pollster, on "Meet the Press" on Sunday.

"I don't buy that he runs," Todd said, per Fox News.

Belcher question Todd's statement, after saying that he believes Trump "will be the nominee" for the GOP if he decides to run.

"It's work," Todd replied.

Todd repeated himself to make his point clear, which Belcher acknowledged as a legitimate reason for Trump deciding not to run.

If Trump does decide to run, it appears that he would have a strong backing from voters.

During a Conservative Political Action Conference in February, an informal straw poll among 2,574 attendees showed that 59% would have voted for Trump if the Republican primary was held that day. Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis finished second in the poll with 28% of the votes.

If Trump decided against running in 2024, 61% of the CPAC attendees said that they would vote for DeSantis in the Republican primary. Mike Pompeo and Donald Trump Jr. finished tied for second with just 6% of the votes, while Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul, and South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem all received 3% of the votes.

Trump has been holding rallies across the country, most recently in Michigan over the weekend, as he attempts to gain more support from voters before announcing, or not announcing, his plans for the 2024 election.

"Trump has a hold on the Republican party unlike anyone I've ever seen," Mitchell Research Chief Executive Officer Steve Mitchell said, according to Bloomberg. "That has probably grown a bit because of the low job approval rating that Joe Biden has."

During a news conference from NATO headquarters in Brussels, Belgium on March 24, President Joe Biden was asked about the concern in Europe that Trump would run again for office in 2024. Biden was confident that it would not be an issue if Trump decided to run again.

"The next election I would be very fortunate if I had that same man running against me," Biden said.
