The gubernatorial recall election is less than a month away in California and recent polls show it's neck and neck.
Larry Elder is leading as the replacement candidate if voters choose to remove Gov. Gavin Newsom in the recall election on September 14.
"You know this is really turning out to be an interesting election," said Political Analyst Larry Gerston. "They’ve got 24 Republican candidates and Elder is as far right or farther right than all of them and he’s positioned himself that way. He’s clearly out of sync with what the majority values in the state."
Gerston said Newsom’s people were afraid if a prominent democrat ran in the recall election he would get recalled. But, they might regret that decision.
"There’s no real strong democratic candidate," he warned. "There is Kevin Paffrath who suddenly has emerged near the top, 29-years-old, and he has done that basically though his YouTube following, but a lot of observers believe that that won’t be enough to offset people like Elders or Faulconer."
This week, a former fiancé of Larry Elder publicly accused the recall candidate of waving a gun at her during 2015 argument.
