A stretch of Interstate 80 in the Sierra has been closed due to a powerful snowstorm blocking visibility.
70 miles of I-80, connecting Reno to Sacramento, were first closed Saturday as a winter storm set in on the area, dropping nearly two feet of snow on ski resorts in Lake Tahoe overnight.

The storm will remain for the next two days, bringing up to 20 feet of snow, power outages and falling trees, the National Weather Service forecasted.
"I-80 is still closed in both directions from the Nevada state line to Colfax. There is no estimated time of reopening," California Highway Patrol in Truckee said late Saturday. As of Sunday morning, the interstate was still closed.
For travelers heading to the Sierra, officials asked them to rethink their plans. US-50 and several other highways have also been closed due to poor visibility. "Mountain travel today (Sun.) will be difficult to impossible and HIGHLY DISCOURAGED," Caltrans officials warned.
The storm is expected to clear up by 10 a.m. Tuesday.
