As firefighters battling the Dixie Fire brace for high winds and dry conditions this week, PG&E announced Monday that it likely will shut off power within several counties near the blaze and in the Northern Bay Area on Tuesday night and into Wednesday afternoon.

About 48,000 customers could potentially be impacted by the shutoffs, with 31,000 of them in Butte and Shasta counties. In the Bay Area, people in Sonoma, Napa and Solano counties could be affected by the outages.

Among a number of other counties the utility listed as "likely" having shutoffs are Mendocino, Shasta and Lassen.

PG&E said it has been alerting customers who could be impacted, via text, email and automated phone call. Customers can also look up their addresses online to see if they are at risk of a shutoff.

Firefighters continue to battle the Dixie Fire, which had grown to nearly 570,000 acres and had destroyed almost 1,200 structures as of Monday morning, according to CAL FIRE.

Containment of the wildfire was at just 31%.
