On Tuesday, the Allegheny County Health Department announced it will be opening three new COVID-19 vaccination sites, otherwise known as points of dispensing (POD).
The new sites will be open by the end of March.
Currently the county operates two others, one in Monroeville and one in Castle Shannon.
The new PODs will include one in Oakland, one in the Central Hill District and one in Ross Township.
The health department website says all sites will operate by appointment only. Anyone without an appointment or doesn't meet required criteria will be turned away.
There are first dose appointments available for those 65 and older at the Peterson Events Center in Oakland on March 17 and 18. Information on those events can be found on the health department's website.
A POD will open at Central Baptist Church on March 22. According to the county, this site will target those who have not been reached by traditional means.
The Ross Township Community Center will serve as a POD starting on March 24. Once this POD is up & running, the Monroeville POD will change over to a second dose only POD.
