
Some Pittsburgh area police departments are receiving body cams thanks to new federal funding.

The Allegheny County Police Chiefs Association will receive over half a million dollars to provide local departments with body cams.
Northern Regional chief John Sicilia says it will go to departments that couldn't otherwise afford them.
No word on exactly which departments will benefit. The association was one of nine organization to receive federal funding for community project funding.
Body cams have become more frequently used among police departments in recent years, but some locally don't have them and can't afford them.
Congressman Connor Lamb has awarded the Allegheny County Police Chiefs Association over half a million dollars to buy them.
Eight other local organizations received similar funding for projects throughout Allegheny and Beaver Counties.
