You know the saying "It takes a village...", well that's what happened here for this beautiful young girl battling brain cancer. Sunday just about everyone in her community of Vandergrift came out to celebrate a day her mom feared she wouldn't live to see. Jaycee Amick just turned 13-years-old!
Watch the video on this page to see me and Jaycee's mom, Marci, singing Happy Birthday and to see the massive turnout.
On our way to the big celebration, we stopped by Oakmont Bakery to pick up a couple of surprises for Jaycee.
Once we made it to the Parks Township Volunteer Fire Department in Vandergrift, that's where the real party was about to go down. Several hundred people turned out to celebrate Jaycee's big day and experience every big holiday... from Christmas to Halloween.
It took a lot of people coming together to make this party such a success for Jaycee. The Parks Township VFD summed them up nicely in this Facebook post:
Oh, and guess who's now an official Honorary Junior Fire Chief? That's right our little angel received the honor from the Parks Township VFD.
Jaycee's big day was capped off with a parade by her home of more than two dozen first-responders, including a Pennsylvania State Police helicopter. We'll keep following Jaycee's journey as she battles this awful disease.
