Juvenile dies after being shot in Homewood

UPDATE 3/31 9:13 A.M.: Pittsburgh police say that a boy who was shot while riding his bike in Homewood last night has now died.

The boy has been identified as 15-year-old Dayvon Vickers.

Police are investigating after a juvenile was shot in the head in Pittsburgh’s Homewood neighborhood.

Pittsburgh police said officers were called to the 800 block of North Homewood Avenue for a ShotSpotter alert on Wednesday evening.

Officers located the juvenile, who was shot in the head. He was taken to a local hospital in critical condition. Police said the victim was riding a bike on North Homewood Avenue when he was shot.

PITTSBURGH (100.1 FM and AM 1020 KDKA) Just after 6:00 p.m., Pittsburgh Police responded to a ShotSpotter alert on the 800 block of N. Homewood Avenue.

The initial alert reported four rounds being fired.

When officers arrived on the scene, they found a juvenile male with a gunshot wound to the head.

Authorities rendered aid to the victim while arrived to the scene and transport him to a local hospital.

The victim was listed in critical condition.

Police are investigating the scene and anyone with information is requested to call headquarters at 412-323-7800.
