Police offer advice to prevent 'porch pirates' from stealing holiday shopping packages

It's the holiday season and online shopping will certainly be at the top of the list for many shoppers this year due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

On Black Friday of this year, shoppers nationwide set a record for online shopping sales.

Pittsburgh police offered up several tips to keep "porch pirates" at bay once your packages begin to arrive on your door step.

Police suggest scheduling delivery of your packages when you will be home or ask that they to be held at the company's facility so you can pick them up yourself.

In addition, asking for signature upon delivery or asking a friend or neighbor to use their address for delivery if they'll be home.

Security cameras can also be deterrents according to police.
