We’ve gotten another update on the Karns City quarterback who was injured at the beginning of the month during a game.

Mason Martin was injured during a game against Redbank Valley. He suffered a collapsed lung and brain bleed.

Martin’s mother says that the medical staff is currently working to provide enough blood for the brain to heal, but not too much that it will increase swelling and pressure.

They also can’t reduce the flow because that could cause a stroke.

“The sweet spot is very tiny,” Stacy King Martin said.

She adds that in typical Mason fashion, he isn’t responding to “the normal protocol.”

He will be stabilized and then his pressure spikes. A doctor told her, it only happens with about one patient a year.

Doctors and staff also believe Mason has pneumonia and pulmonary emboli, common with respiratory issues. They are treating that with medication.

Stacy took explained that the doctors and nurses have gone above and beyond to take care of Mason.

“As always please keep him in your thoughts and prayers, Thanks for everything you have done for us,” she wrote before adding the Bible verse, Jeremiah 29:11, “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

A GoFundMe continues for Mason and the Martin family. Over $64,200 has been raised as the number keeps growing.
