AAA: Western PA gas prices stable as national average hits highest price since 2014

Gas prices in western Pennsylvania are staying steady as the national average increases.

The average price in the local area was at $3.246 this week after the regional average was at $3.248 last week. This week last year, gas prices in the area averaged at $2.479.

The national gas average is at the highest of the year, coming in around $3.09. With the 4thof July holiday this weekend, the national average could increase, as much as a nickel.

As on Monday, 89% of gas stations in the country were selling unleaded gas for $2.75 or more. That’s an increase from last year when price for gas over the holiday weekend was $2.25 or higher.

Anyone traveling this weekend will see the most expensive fill up for the Independence Day weekend since 2014.
