Long-time sex Canadian sex educator Sue Johanson died Thursday. She was 93.

She was in a long-term care home outside of the Toronto area.

A registered nurse, Johanson was known for her open, unapologetic take on sex.

Unlike Dr. Ruth, Johanson would answer any question, no matter how taboo. She hosted the “Sunday Night Sex Show” in Canada in the mid-90s until 2005. She hosted a show in the United States called, Talk Sex with Sue Johanson from 2002-2008.

She started on radio in Toronto in 1984 with a call-in program.

Many viewers had no idea what they were in for when she would take her little people models out and it got really interesting when a third model would be pulled out.

She would also show viewers how to use adult toys anything else that the mainstream saw as “off-limits.”

"She was a groundbreaker pioneer trooper. And she broke all the rules. And it was fabulous," her daughter Jane Johanson said Thursday during an interview on the CBC radio show As It Happens.

"Everybody felt like they had another mother or another grandmother with Sue,” added Jane talking to the CBC.

A documentary was made about Johanson in 2022. You can watch the trailer below.
