New bill could extend last call to 4 a.m. in Pennsylvania

Could bars and restaurants across the state start serving until 4:00 a.m.?

That’s the goal with a proposed bill from Pennsylvania State Lawmaker Jordan Harris is ready to introduce.

Currently in the state of Pennsylvania, by law bars and restaurants must close taps and stop serving alcohol at 2:00 a.m.

Harris’ goal with the new bill which would extend last call to 4:00 a.m. is to help bars and restaurants recover from the deficits faced from the COVID-19 pandemic.

Ideally the bill would help the local bars and restaurants recoup losses with many restrictions being lifted or adjusted to allow more people.

According to Harris, his bill will allow local municipalities to make the decision to extend the last call hour.

While Harris is going to push for his bill, it won’t be popular with everyone, as law enforcement agents think this could lead to more drunk driving incidents.

Multiple states around the country already have last call set at 4:00 a.m. and the goal for Harris is to have Pennsylvania join that list.
